Chinese celebs lash out at M'sia over MH370
Malaysiakini – Thu, Mar 27, 2014
A number of big-name celebrities in China, including award-winning actress Zhang Ziyi, have hit out at Malaysia's handling of the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.
Several celebrities took to Weibo - a Shanghai-based Twitter-like microblogging service – to condemn Malaysia and urge a boycott of Malaysian products.
"The Malaysian government has offended the world! We are looking for the airplane but you are more concerned about timing.
"Malaysian government, today you have done wrong. You are wrong failing to take responsibility. You are wrong for prioritising political manoeuvres instead of respecting life.
"You are wrong for failing to respect the universal.. quest for truth," wrote Zhang on March 25, 17 days MH370 went missing and a day after Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak revealed that the plane went down in the Indian Ocean.
Among the 239 people on board MH370 were 152 Chinese nationals. One of them was Jo Kun, who was once Zhang's fight choreographer.
Actor Chen Kun, another famous Chinese celebritry, accused the Malaysian government and MAS of "clownish prevarication and lies", also on March 25.
He added that he would boycott all Malaysian products and avoid coming to Malaysia indefinitely.
Posts by Zhang, Chen and other Chinese celebrities have been widely shared online by Chinese netizens.
Some Chinese netizens have also urged a boycott of Malaysian artistes such as Fish Leong, Gary Chaw, Lee Sinje and Ah Niu, who are popular for their music and movies.
Bahau-born Leong, who is an expectant mother, drew scorn from Weibousers after uploading a photograph of three candles as a mark of respect for MH370 victims.
Numerous Chinese netizens responded by cursing her and her unborn child. The photograph has since been removed.
In an apparent attempt to stem the anger and distrust in China, Malaysian officials have also met the Chinese ambassador to Malaysia Huang Huikang to ask for the Chinese government to engage and help clarify the situation to the bereaved relatives and the public.
“Malaysia is working hard to try and make the briefings to the Chinese relatives in Beijing more productive,” read a statement sent out by the Transport Ministry today.

Listen to the news from reliable source, even then they can only write base on informations provided. The most unreliable sources are those written in blog, social network, you name it twitter, weibo, facebook, forum, etc, they do have fact but more so with lots of personal opinions to wild speculations and those vending their anger, which do you know is telling the truth? You really can't tell from fact or speculation. So stop complaining if you do not get the fact correct. Put yourself in their shoe, don't think you can handle it either or probably make it worse. This is not a simple direct plane crash. Its much more complicated then any plane accident.

Totally agree. Besides, what have Chinese satellites, search planes and ships found so far? Totally rely on other nations to find their passengers. I have nothing but contempt for the Chinese behaviour!

I am not a Malaysian too. But we cannot blame Malaysia for what has happen. The method of handling the whole scene after the plane gone missing could have been messy. But I still believe, they have done and is still doing their best. Certainly China is upset and angry. But China also did not play their role well. Why did your satellite pictures or data was given a few days later? Should not blame anyone. Life's are gone, that is what we know for now. So, see how to work together on the best note without further injuring anyone.

This is really amusing. What the hell does an actor/ actress know anyway? They come to a set, directed by someone, and they act according to how the script is played out, How difficult can that be?

These bimbos failed to realise that what is happening is not some movie or tele drama. There is no script to follow, and people have to react according to the situation as how it unfold.
AS for the mainlanders, these Ah Chans still have these MIddle Kingdom mentality, from too much "chasing the dragon"- opium smoking. in case you are wondering.

Mohd Rafi is so correct. Their country women are CHEAP. Indeed many come to work as prostitutes in Malaysia, Singapore. In their eyes, only $$ is important. They have low moral, low integrity. Yes, they really are crude and inconsiderate and yet srrogant enough to think they are better and more intelligent. Here in the States, they keep to themselves and act odd. You know, bad manners like staring or talking too loudly.. not sociable with other races either. There are exceptions I am sure, but generally, Chinese are like that.

Chinese netizens or Chinese artistes who urged a boycott of Malaysian artistes and product are people who are naive and also insensitive about their wrong doing.

These chinese people must know the citizen or Malaysia has nothing to do with the MH370.
How the Malaysian government handle the matters has nothing to do with the people of Malaysia.
So, when the chinese government did something bad to other countries, does it means the Chinese people has to suffer the same fate?
Wake up!!!. Although I'm not a Malaysian citizen, I think common people should respect common people.
Don't drag the common people into politic world. The Malaysia government behave like fool, that does not means common people in Malaysia are all fools.

We are not ready to criticize or comment on MH370 as investigations are ongoing and the root causes are yet to be known. Let the truth be out, MAS cannot hide this matter as many countries are involved in the investigations and assisting them in many ways.
I strongly believe that people with fame and popularity to console the members of who lost their family and friends.

What I find worse though is the Chinese reaction. Disgusting. Starting legal proceedings before anything is found. Protesting outside the embassy. Yelling, screaming. Screw them. The entire world is looking for this plane. Grow up China. I empathize and sympathize for the lost loved ones for sure, but the way China are acting has made the entire thing much worse.
I hope the cause is found soon and this issue can be put to rest. - Nicole • Report Abuse
While i don't agree with Malaysia personnel involved in this case, from withholding information from the victims' families and friends (and just only to them, not to the public, they are the only people entitled to know every single part of the investigations), and declaring the "All lives are lost" without concrete proof, it will be way too harsh to condemn them for being slow in finding the plane.
Reply
Come on, with over 10 nations trying their best to search, even China is part of it, none of them could find the plane yet. So why condemn Malaysia alone? Instead of letting them focus on it, China citizens are bringing down their morale even further, as if the frustrations and tiredness ain't enough to bring them down.
So what's the point in dragging more innocent Malaysian people, who has no part in this?
Right now, it seem to me that Malaysian ain't allowed to express their sadness over this incident (mind you, they have the 2nd largest passengers on the plane) without being criticized, and it is not right at all.
China citizens can express their disappointment and even anger, but don't use it in the wrong way or on the wrong people. Especially when they have nothing to do with it. - Kopen • Report Abuse

Malaysia garment is slow to release information and updates, that's a fact coming from Malaysia who is well knowing for sexy and populist politics. However, the plan is very likely to have gone down after fuel ran out around 7 to 8 am on that ill-fated day? What could have been done at that point? The only way to rescue as many people is that once air-traffic controls from Malaysia and Vietnam lost contact with the plane, MAS and airport should quickly activiate satellites to trace the route of the plane for any possible actions to salvage it. But this would be a dangerous mission that would be very difficult.

I can't see their rationale for boycotting Malaysian artists. Are they at all responsible for what has happened? These Chinese netizens are rearing a very ugly side of themselves, as they always do because anonymity works in their favour. So if we were to replace MAS with some American/European airliner, will they react the same way? Its easy to make use of this situation to point fingers, but is it justifiable to put the fault on the whole country and the people within it? Have some common decency, please. I think the most insensitive things that have come out of netizens' mouths in criticizing Malaysian artists lately is to "return to your poor country". Boycotting MY Celebs are just the evidences of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) hatred education. A sick, psycho way of brainwashing its people.

I clearly remember decades back, Rainie Yang (Yang Cheng Ling) made a casual remarks on the NanKing Massacre. When Wu Zong Xian asked her (on TV show "Wo Cai") did she know how many has died during the holocast, Rainie answered negative. Then Wu said the figures, and Rain responed "Just (I can't remember the number)", since then the word "just" offended the Chinese and boycotted her AND boycotted KFC (yes, the fast-food KFC) because at that time she was the 'spokesperson' for KFC. KFC soon suffered a significant drop in business which made them to change away Rainie as their spokesperson.
In order for CCP to gain its ground, Mao introduced what experts call "hatred education", its purpose was to bring its people together. (See the famous Chinese quote - My enemies' enemies are my friends) And this is also the reason Chinese being xenophobia. They call Korean, Japanese, Westerners names like how a low-esteem bully in your school call the victims to boost their esteem. They were taught to hate 'out-groups' (meaning people who are different from them). There is this retro video on youtube showing a 5 or 6 year old girl singing "I will kill all the americans". Her facial expression was totally disturbing.
O/T: Youtube China Uncensored if you are interested in watching a hilarous Western guy critisizing the CCP or learn about Chinese(CHina) unique contemprary culture. - Micky • Report Abuse
For the moment the focus should be on finding the plane and verifying the cause of this tragedy and not trading uncalled for remarks against the citizens of both countries. After establishing the reasons and cause of this tragedy, people then can turn to focus who is incompetent, what could have been done better etc. The citizens of each country should not be targeted as culprit for a blotched operation or uncultured/uncouth behaviour. Just because of a few incompetent leaders or sentimentally driven relatives and supporters doesn't make the entire nation hateful or loathsome. Trading each others' wrong doing or incompetence isn't going to alter the situation. Time will eventually catch up and punish those and only those who are guilty of incompetence and not doing a good job. There are many M'sians and PRC who are not responsible or have anything to do with this episode, so why involve them???
Reply - Justme • Report Abuse
the media is partly to be blamed for this blame game. they were the ones who sensationalise the tragedy for higher readership and viewership. the mainlanders are always highly strung and naive. they have been suppressed so long by their government and this tragedy is an outlet to vent their anger and frustration on others. do they think 26 countries are in cahoots in hiding information?how can one hide a jetliner and 239 people onboard? perhaps all these smart alecks can unravel the mystery and show the world how to solve this aviation mystery. the plane deviated from it's original flight path, thus it will take a longer time to locate the whereabout of this missing airplane.
