Kaamatan

Ka'amatan is a festival celebrated by the Kadazan Dusun in Sabah (North Borneo). It's celebrated every 30th and 31st of May every year but some villages and districts starts to celebrate it in the beginning of May for the Unduk Ngadau nominee to represent their district in the finale (30th & 31st).

Short brief of Ka'amatan, a Kinoingan (The Almighty Creator) sacrificed his daghter (Huminodun) to feed the people as her body parts grew the rice (padi).

Picnic on May

Last Saturday we went picnic at Plage de L'argentiere in La Londe. It was a good day! So relaxing under the sun with the breeze, reading my magazine and long read with my book - had a good time! The water still cold about 17C, we just dipped our foot (FREEZZZEE) effing cold! The beach was calm that day, not so many people but it will soon!

What a pleasure weekend! Good time, quality time, fun and tasty air!!!

Chinese Restaurant in Marseille

First Chinese restaurant in Marseille I went last year December, same problem too, I’m craving of real Chinese food. So, we googled which, where and what restaurant that we are gonna go, and we had decided to go this one ‘Mandarin’, it was good but I don’t know why I’m not so comfortable sitting there, the restaurant environment was inky, silence,  a bit eerie and maybe my husband didn't speak too much that time because of his tooth actually giving him some great pain that day. But the hostess and owner are very friendly!

Me, in Mandarin Restaurant Marseille.

The second time, we went with some friends but different restaurant. I would say this restaurant are so so good! We actually reserved the restaurant few days before as we were thinking to have Peiking Duck, and you know to make Peiking Duck need at least one day for the marination and everything.

Here's the Peiking Duck. First, the waiter demonstrate us the whole duck and then he bring it back to the kitchen before served the entrée of the duck. (Heyyy give me back the duck - that was I thought)

Here's the entrée, the crispy duck skin.

and here's how we eat it with some sauce, i think it's Hoi Sin sauce, with onion, then we wrapped it like a spring rolls or popiah (nem)

Here's are the side dish we ordered;

Spring rolls or Popiah (nem) with sambal.

Deep fried prawn

Taugeh (bean sprouts)

Frog legs

Calamari

Beef

And noodles

Part of the Peiking duck, after the crispy skin, they served the duck's meat (breast)

So delicious!
And lastly the soup from the duck's bones.

for French, lunch is not parfait without wine

Something unpleasant me is they do serve Shark Fin soup :( but I am not sure if they use real Shark Fin because some restaurant they just name it Shark Fin soup but actually it's not real shark fin, they use Fish Maw or any similar to make it look like Shark Fin soup. But anyway, all foods are glorious will definitely come back to this restaurant!

Well, all I want to say is I AM SATISFIED. They have foods like back home!

Garlic Bread

Today I'm craving of Garlic Bread. Unfortunately, French doesn't have this in their bakery, so I have to do it by myself.

My homemade garlic bread fresh from oven. It smells sooo good inside the oven. My husband then recall this crispy bread when he's in KK (Kota Kinabalu) because at first when I told him that I am gonna make garlic bread today and he was like 'WTH is Garlic Bread? Go get cakes in Claude Medina better' but well, He actually like it :)

My Nuptial Blessing Invitation

My nuptial blessing in Malaysia  will be held soon this summer in Sabah, Borneo. I did my civil wedding last year (2011) in France (little celebration with family members and close friends)
In the picture is my DIY wedding card, not so creative but I managed to do 100 cards. My husband did the invitation card for our French wedding last year and now its my turn to since it's my reception side.
The girl in the picture is one of my friend from Japan (Maki) :) they received my invitation and will come for my big day, can't wait to see both of them, they're my good friends :) BISOUS

Mother's Prayer

by Belle Olivier

My Husband's 33rd Birthday

I bought Pink carnations (Oeillet) for his 33rd day in life. Well it's not exactly a birthday present, it's just my routine to buy flowers every week for our house but for our cotton anniversary we unable to find Carnations. So I finally found last week..

I gave him a birthday card too saying 'A un grand garçon, un message interplanétaire...' with a picture of man in space with one dog :)

I bought him some stuff from Yves Rocher, some clipper for his collection and a scrapbook. In the evening we went out for a dinner in Hippopotamus Bar & Grill Restaurant in Grand Var Est. The meat was amazing!!! After dinner, we actually planned to watch Tim Burton's Dark Shadows but we missed it.

I Miss My Son So Much

I miss my son so much! It hurts to think that he pass his days without me around. I don’t sleep too much, thinking of him every second. I call him every day and we skype most of the time but I still feel sad. I want to hug him, kiss him before he off to school and before he sleep. I kiss him all the time! I cannot wait to be with him again! It’s almost a year now!

Little Plant

Our Little Plant

In our new resident we don't have garden, so we unable to plant flowers and vegetables. We love planting and the only thing that we can do is by hanging a plant basket in the window. So far we tried Tulips and its bloom beautifully in April. My husband planted some coriander, mint, basil, lavender and roses too.
